Murraya exotica L. is an evergreen shrub or small tree in the Rutaceae family, also known as the Ten Mile Incense, Moon Orange, and Green Wood Incense. Jiulixiang can reach a height of 8 meters, and potted plants can grow 1-2 meters tall; Branches are numerous and dense, with white gray or light yellow gray branches, but the branches that grow in the current year are green; Odd feather compound leaves with 3, 5, or 7 leaflets, oblong or inverted in shape, with short or nearly sessile petioles; The inflorescence is umbrella shaped or cone-shaped, terminal or axillary; White flowers, fragrant; The fruit is orange yellow to vermilion red in color, with a broad oval or elliptical shape. The flowering period is from April to August, and there are also flowers that bloom after autumn. The fruiting period is from September to December.

Murraya exotica is distributed in some tropical and subtropical regions of Asia, and in China, it is distributed in Yunnan, Guizhou, Hunan, Guangdong, Guangxi, Fujian, Taiwan, Hainan and other places. Jiulixiang grows in areas with an altitude of 700-1400 meters and is often distributed in relatively humid flat land, gentle slopes, and small hills. It prefers sufficient sunlight, is also tolerant to semi shade, and prefers warmth. The most suitable temperature for growth is 20-32 ℃. [9] The propagation methods of Jiuli Xiang include sowing propagation, cutting propagation, and strip propagation.

The dried leaves and tender branches of Murraya exotica, after shade drying, can be used as traditional Chinese medicine and have certain medicinal value; Jiulixiang is a good tree species for observing flowers and fruits, and can be used as a hedge or for making bonsai; The flowers, leaves and fruits of Murraya contain essential oil, which can be used as cosmetics essence and food essence. In addition, its hard and dense wood can be used to make fine handicrafts.
