1. Soil and fertilizer
Soil selection: Bird's nest fern is suitable for loose, well-drained soil. It is recommended to use a mixture of snake wood chips, pine phosphorus or coarse-grained peat soil, leaf humus and coarse sand.
Fertilizer application: During the growing season, apply thin liquid fertilizer once every half a month, with a concentration of about half of the usual. Avoid fertilizing immediately after repotting or just after purchase to avoid fertilizer damage.
2. Light management
Light requirements: Bird's nest fern prefers a semi-shaded environment and avoids direct sunlight. In warm seasons, it is best to place it in the shade of a tree or next to a windowsill.
Summer shading: More than 70% shading should be provided in summer to prevent leaf burns.
3. Temperature control
Suitable temperature: The ideal growth temperature of bird's nest fern is 16℃ to 27℃. The minimum temperature in winter should not be lower than 5℃, and the maximum temperature in summer should not exceed 33℃.
Winter warmth: In northern areas, bird's nest ferns should be moved indoors in winter and the temperature should be kept above 15℃.
